Mayor Adler wants Austin to look its best for Dolly Parton

Dolly Parton is coming to the Frank Erwin Center tonight in her latest stop on her “Pure & Simple” tour.

The country superstar, who just won the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award, has a humbling effect on many people, including our mayor.

Adler tweeted the following in response to Parton’s announcement today that she was on her way to the Music Capital of the World:

When Dolly arrives, you have to look your best. And when the mayor says it, you know it’s important. After all, how else do you greet the superstar that gave us “9 to 5” and “Jolene”?

Parton starts her concert at 7:30 at the Frank Erwin Center. She will weave in old standards with new songs from her latest album, “Pure & Simple.”

Parton made headlines this month when she announced her “My People” fund, which will donate $1,000 a month to help victims of the fires that consumed East Tennessee last week.

So if you go to the frank Erwin Center tonight, be sure to be dressed in your Sunday best. Dolly’s watching. And maybe Mayor Adler will be, too.
