Harambe the dead gorilla for president? Sure, why not? It’s not like the 2016 presidential race hasn’t been the weirdest of them all already.
According to a recent poll from Public Policy Polling, which released its Texas data on Tuesday, 2 percent of people who took the survey said they would vote for Harambe, the gorilla that was killed at the Cincinnati Zoo earlier this year, in hypothetical ballot match-ups with Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. That’s the same percentage Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein received.
On top of all that? Both Stein and Harambe were beat out by fictional candidate “Deez Nuts.” The American-Statesman reported earlier this week that Trump received 44 percent of the survey votes and Clinton got 38 percent. And where Texas secession is concerned, 26 percent of the voters surveyed supported leaving the U.S.
Bear in mind, this poll is not one of the five surveys that will be used to determine whether Stein qualifies to participate in the major party debates to come. Looks like those of us in Texas just have a bunch of jokers in our midst.
