It’s astounding. Time is fleeting. Madness takes its toll. Y’all. Let’s do the Time Warp again … into Austin’s past.
On Monday, Alamo Drafthouse posted a neat Google Maps trick that’s not quite time travel, but it’s as close as you’ll get this side of Marty McFly. “We just found a wormhole in Google Maps,” the theater announced on its Facebook page, linking to a street view of their South Lamar location.
Once a user clicks on the screen to take a step forward, they’re transported from an image captured of the theater in June to the Lamar Plaza shopping center’s April 2009 look. The theater temporarily closed in 2013 for renovations as the entire shopping center was revamped by new owners.
So, yeah, that’s cool! But as Drafthouse pointed out in the comments, tears in the time-space continuum aren’t impossible to come by.
