Lockhart hot air balloon crash: What Texas officials, citizens are saying

After 16 people involved in a hot air balloon crash near Lockhart were reported dead on Saturday, Texas officials and citizens took to social media to express their prayers and condolences.

Gov. Greg Abbott posted his statement about the incident which he said was “tragic and heartbreaking.”

U.S. Rep. Joaquín Castro, D-San Antonio, also sent out his condolences to the victims and their families.

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn called the event “terrible.”

Vice chairman of the Republican Party of Texas, Amy Clark, sends her prayers.

The account for the SH 130 toll road also commented on the crash.

Aside from Texas officials, citizens on Twitter mainly expressed their condolences and disbelief.
